Feel the Fear and Sell Anyway: How to Overcome the Fear of Selling and Make Your First Sales With Confidence

Let’s be honest. For so many women building their business, selling can feel like the hardest part.

You love helping people. You believe in your offer. But when it comes time to actually ask for the sale, something inside you freezes.

Maybe you worry about coming off as pushy. Maybe you’re afraid people will say no. Or maybe deep down, you wonder, “Who am I to charge for this?”

If that sounds familiar, I want you to know something: You’re not alone. Every successful entrepreneur has felt this way at some point. But the difference between those who stay stuck and those who start making sales is this:

They didn’t wait for the fear to go away. They just started anyway.

In this post, I’ll walk you through some simple, mindset-shifting steps to help you overcome the fear of selling and start making your first sales with confidence, clarity, and heart.


Step 1: Reframe What Selling Really Means

Selling is not about convincing. It’s about inviting.

When you reframe sales as an opportunity to help someone solve a real problem or take a powerful step forward, it no longer feels like you’re taking something from someone. Instead, you’re offering something of value.

Ask yourself:

  • How does my offer help someone?

  • What problem does it solve or dream does it support?

  • What would happen if they didn’t have this solution?

When you see your offer as a gift, showing up and sharing it becomes a lot easier.


Step 2: Practice Saying Your Offer Out Loud

Sometimes the fear comes from not feeling prepared or practiced. The more you talk about your offer, the more confident you’ll become.

Try this:

  • Write down a one-sentence description of your offer

  • Practice saying it out loud to yourself, to a friend, or even in a voice note

  • Create a short script or bullet points to help you remember key benefits

Step 3: Focus on the First Yes

Don’t try to master sales or scale to a hundred customers overnight. Just focus on getting your first yes.

To get there:

  • Reach out to people in your network who might be a good fit

  • Share your offer in your content with a clear call to action

Step 4: Stop Waiting to Feel “Ready”

Here’s a little secret: No one ever feels 100 percent ready. Confidence doesn’t come before you sell. It comes through the act of selling.

Selling is a skill you build. And the best way to build it is to start. Imperfectly. Honestly. With heart.

You don’t need to be salesy. You just need to show up, share what you do, and give people a clear way to say yes.

So let it be there. Acknowledge it. Then move forward anyway.

Selling is simply an extension of service. And the more you practice it, the more natural and joyful it will become.
